| | The Health Protection Agency has advised that there is no need for special precautions by anyone who may have reduced immunity due to illness or treatment (an at-risk person).
If an at-risk person comes into contact with anyone who might have flu, they should contact their GP, who can arrange for that person to receive anti-flu drugs if they think it is necessary. It is not recommended that at-risk persons should take anti-flu drugs purely as a precaution, because this might increase the risk of the flu virus becoming resistant to the drugs.
The UK Health Protection Agency and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have produced excellent information resources, which will be regularly updated.
